Ukraine said it had uncovered a network of agents inside its country belonging to Hungarian military intelligence.
The SBU, Ukraine’s intelligence service, accused the alleged spies of carrying out espionage activities to the detriment of its country. It made two arrests, and both men face life imprisonment if convicted.
It said the network was collecting information about the military security of the Transcarpathian region and searching for vulnerabilities in the ground and air defense of the region.
Moreover, the agents were tasked with learning the views of local residents, in particular how they would respond if Hungarian troops entered the region, the SBU said.
