An exhausted new mom was hoping to get some sleep after giving birth, but her husband had other plans.

Kaela Greening, 29, gave birth unmedicated to her 9-pound daughter. But as she lay in her hospital bed, staring at the ceiling at 1:30 a.m., it wasn’t her newborn keeping her awake—it was her husband’s snoring.

In a clip on TikTok, a bleary-eyed Greening looked into the camera from her hospital bed. “1:30 in the morning,” she whispered. “Liam must have had a really long day today. He must have worked really hard, which is why he’s snoring so loud.”

With their newborn fast asleep, Greening was hoping to get some rest, too, but Liam’s snoring made it impossible.

Luckily for the new dad, his wife wasn’t too hard on him. She told Newsweek that they had arrived at the hospital early in the morning and that she didn’t give birth until 9 p.m.

“So it was a long day not just for me but also for him,” she said. “Liam is very outgoing, chill, lighthearted. He was such a great support to me while I was giving birth.”

Greening’s clip amassed 2.4 million views and racked up more than 1,600 comments from new moms who had been through similar experiences.

“I told mine to go home and come back in the morning. I couldn’t sleep at all!” one user wrote.

“He will wake up in the morning and tell you what a wonderful night sleep he had and this will be forever more,” another said.

Many users said their husbands’ snoring was the reason they slept in separate beds.

“I was surprised at just how many women related to what I went through,” Greening said. “So many women commented saying their husbands did the exact same thing. A lot of other people commented saying they could never deal with the snoring.”

Despite the rough first night, Greening said her daughter was thriving. “She’s doing great! She’s healthy and such a happy baby. Motherhood is the greatest blessing. Don’t get me wrong, there are always going to be hard days, but it’s always worth it.”

In the video’s caption, Greening said the next time they were in the hospital, she would tell her husband to go home and sleep.
