The Fyre Festival is back. Tickets for the second installment of the notorious festival have gone on sale, with prices starting at $1,400 and going all the way up to $1.1 million.

Newsweek has reached out to Fyre Festival 2 via an online contact form for comment.

Why It Matters

The first Fyre Festival, back in 2017, was a well-publicized disaster. Attendees spent thousands on tickets to an event, the main features of which were mass disorganization, shoddy tents and the now-infamous cheese sandwiches.

The failure of the first festival led to attendees stranded with inadequate food, shelter, and medical services, a Netflix documentary about how it all unfolded, and a six-year prison sentence for Billy McFarland, the festival’s organizer.

What To Know

The festival is back for a second edition, with McFarland, who was released from prison in 2022 after serving less than four years, leading the charge. “Fyre II is real. My dream is finally becoming a reality,” he said in a Today interview on February 24.

At present, no artists have been publicly confirmed for the festival, which is set to take place in a matter of months.

There are four ticket packages available. The FYRE Ignite package is priced at $1,400 per person, and grants general admission to access to FYRE Festival 2 from May 30 to June 2. It does not include accommodation or transportation.

The FYRE Fuego package is priced at $5,000 per person. This package also does not include accommodation. The website states that the tickets grant VIP access.

The third package, the FYRE Phoenix package, is priced at $25,000 and includes accommodation, private airport transfers and ferry transportation.

The Prometheus God of FYRE package is priced at $1,100,000 for eight people. The website claims that this package includes on-stage access, accommodation on a private yacht or villa, transportation and a 24/7 chauffeur service. Additional VIP perks include exclusive dinners and excursions, with dedicated concierge support throughout the event.

The original festival was heavily promoted on social media by high-profile celebrities and influencers. It led to lawsuits, and McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud, though was released early in March 2022. He was also ordered to return $26 million to investors.

What’s Next

Whether the festival will be able to book talent, sell tickets or go ahead, remains to be seen. Due to legal restrictions, McFarland himself may not be able to attend, he told Today when asked if he’ll be in attendance, “I don’t know. I have to be OK with, mentally, maybe watching a livestream from my computer and crying a little bit.”
