‘Wordle’ Today #1,314 Hints and Answer for Thursday, January 23 Game

Another day, another Wordle—but if you’re feeling a bit stuck we have some great clues to help you solve it.

Wordle was developed by Josh Wardle, for his girlfriend who loved word games. Initially intended for the couple’s own enjoyment during COVID-19 lockdowns, Wardle soon recognized its broader appeal and launched Wordle online in October 2021.

The game’s popularity skyrocketed within months, and The New York Times purchased it in early 2022 for an undisclosed seven-figure sum.

Wordle is not only a hit among regular folk: even celebrities love playing and sharing their results with other A-listers.

Hollywood icons Carol Burnett and Allison Janney, co-stars of Apple TV+ series Palm Royale, compare their results almost every day, with Burnett describing the game as “fun.”

“Allison and I, we Wordle,” Burnett told Entertainment Tonight in April 2023. “We just Wordle back-and-forth.”

Keegan-Michael Key, the Emmy Award-winning star of Key & Peele, also loves the daily puzzle.

“There’s a fun sense of accomplishment that comes with starting the day solving a New York Times game,” Key said in 2023.

How to Play Wordle

Players are tasked with guessing a mystery five-letter word—and must do so in six attempts or fewer. They are helped along with a color-coded tile system: green means they have got the letter correct; yellow shows the letter appears in the word but is in the wrong spot; and, finally, a gray tile indicates that the letter does not appear in the word at all.

Below are some clues to help you solve Thursday’s game, but be warned that the answer appears below that at the end of the article, so please scroll with caution.
