A second grader’s responses to a school assignment is going viral on Reddit.
Posted to the r/funny subreddit, u/ChuckySix uploaded a photo titled, “My son has his future mapped out,” with a fill-in-the-blank “All About Me” worksheet.
At first glance, it is a wholesome school project: favorite color (blue), favorite food (orange “chicen”), and favorite movie (Minecraft).

But it was the final prompt—”When I grow up…”—that stunned his parents and other fellow Reddit users. “I will get hit by a bus,” the 8-year-old wrote in response.
His parents, who chose to remain anonymous, told Newsweek that they were in shock by what they read at first.
“When we first read it, we weren’t sure what to think—we still don’t know what to think,” they said. “Our kid has some extremely unique questions and remarks. We were just as shocked as probably everyone else who read it.”
As for his favorite things, the parents said his taste in food and music comes from them.
“My son and I listen to tons of old-school music, especially hip hop,” the mom said. “He likes the sound of bass and is amazed that I know the words to all the songs. I turn up the music in the car and we break it down.”
And his parents added that his sister got the boy “hooked” on orange chicken—a contrast from his preference of fettuccini alfredo last year.
At the time of writing, the post has received more than 22,000 upvotes and almost 500 comments.
“He should really aim higher. He could be hit by Lamborghini or a limousine,” one user joked.
” I mean… this is my retirement plan right now,” commented another.
The most-liked comment was left by u/Aeruhat who wrote: “Kid’s aware of an incoming isekai to his current isekai;” this is a reference to a popular genre in anime and manga where a character is transported from their ordinary world into a fantasy or parallel universe, usually after a dramatic event like getting hit by a truck or bus.
But it was the doodle next to the prompt box that left everyone stumped. A Reddit user questioned what it was, to which the dad responded: “Either him being splattered by the bus at age 10 or him playing football? I have no idea,” promising to report back when he knows more.
Described as extremely outgoing, the parents also told Newsweek that their son will talk to anyone: “He’s silly and goofy, emotional and tough. He thinks on another planet sometimes.”
While the majority of responses were positive, there were a few critics in the mix, the parents said. The mom added: “A few spears have been thrown, but it’s expected. I don’t think my husband ever thought it would get the attention it did. Reading all the comments has been awesome! Truly, a ‘just here for the comments’ kind of post.”
