‘Wordle’ Today #1,350 Hints and Answer for Friday, February 28 Game

Wordle has maintained its popularity years after it was released to the public in October 2021.

Software engineer Josh Wardle came up with the concept during the COVID-19 pandemic, and The New York Times purchased the brainteaser several months after it was launched for an undisclosed seven-figure fee.

To solve the daily word game, players must come up with the five-letter word within six attempts. A green tile shows the correct letter is in the correct position; a yellow tile shows the letter is in the word, but in the wrong place; and a gray tile shows the letter is not in the word.

In an interview with Newsweek in 2022, Wardle said “there is a reason that every word is five letters long and that you are allowed six attempts to guess it.”

“That might seem arbitrary but, with the prototype version, I tested different word lengths and experimented with the number of tries that players were allowed,” Wardle told Newsweek readers.

“Through that process of refinement, I figured out that five letters and six tries was the ideal sweet spot,” he continued. “It’s just limited enough to feel challenging and to make you think, but most of the time people still manage to solve it. So, you feel a real sense of real accomplishment.”

Despite inventing Wordle however, Wardle said he’s “not very good at” the game.

“I’m afraid I’m not really the best,” he said. “[My partner] and I play it on the couch together each morning. She will consistently get it in three goes, which is way, way better than I can ever hope to achieve. I normally need at least four or five attempts.”
