Drew Barrymore admitted that she had a run-in with the police a few years back that she can now laugh about.
The 49-year-old actress was accompanied by her ex-boyfriend Luke Wilson on the Tuesday, February 18, episode of The Drew Barrymore Show that originally aired on January 16. Together, the two recalled a time when they were detained by the police back when they were dating in the ’90s.
“I just thought of a memory that wasn’t funny at the time,” Barrymore recalled to Wilson, who replied as if he knew exactly what she was thinking about.
“Beck,” he responded.

The Scream star then laughed as she confessed that she and the Old School actor were stopped by the police as they were making their way to see Grammy Award winner Beck in concert.
“I got stopped for public urination! And there I was like, peeking out of the bushes, like, ‘Hi!'” explained Barrymore. Wilson also added that the two were “detained” for a “little bit” and that they were “frisked” before being released. “They gave us, like, a warning, but we got let go with a warning,” noted the actress before she added, “We were like, ‘Alright, let’s go!'” The former couple also made sure to detail the fact that they made it to the concert and had a great time despite their rendezvous with the police.
The Bottle Rocket star and Barrymore met on the set of Home Fries in 1996 and dated for two years before they split up in 1998. The two have remained friendly ever since and continue to be good friends over two decades later.

Barrymore’s last known relationship was with Will Kopelman, her ex-husband. The two started dating in 2011 and were married in 2012. They share two daughters, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10, born in 2012 and 2014, respectively. Kopelman, 46, and Barrymore divorced in 2016 after four years of marriage.
Wilson has famously dated model Joy Bryant and Gwyneth Paltrow in the early 2000s in addition to Barrymore in the late 90s but has since maintained a private dating life. In 2019 the actor told Hollywood Life that he still wanted to have a family and that he would love to be a dad some day.
