Shaquille O’Neal Shocks Cohosts by Showing Off Feet

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Shaquille O’Neal, who is best remembered for his abilities on the basketball court, gave his fans and Inside the NBA cohosts something else to remember him for.

O’Neal, 52, was joined by cohosts Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson on the Thursday, January 23 episode of the show, where the topic of discussion was the former Los Angeles Lakers center’s feet.

The conversation was kicked off after Barkley mentioned that he got his “regular mani-pedi” that week and added that he used to get his daughter to “do his toenails.” O’Neal then chimed in and said, “Yeah, mine too,” prompting his cohosts to ask some questions.

“You subjected your kids to your feet?” asked Barkley, before Smith added, “Shaq, that had to be punishment.” O’Neal then proceeded to pull out his right foot and place it on the table for all to see.

“Look at those nails, man,” said Johnson. Smith then added, “Your feet look like a bald eagle’s feet.”

The display seemingly shocked Barkley so much that he needed a moment to collect himself before introducing the next segment of the show and admitted, “I need time to say something serious, but I can’t do it right now.”

Fans of the show took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their reactions to the four-time NBA champion’s feet.

“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get the image of Shaq’s disgusting feet out of my head,” wrote one viewer, while a second noted, “Shaq showing his feet on TNT need to come with a fine. Man wtf .” A third quipped, “Inside the NBA stays undefeated… they really had Shaq showing off his diabolical looking feet on live TV .”

The retired NBA player-turned-sports analyst (who is also a DJ sometimes) has previously revealed that he spends “about $1,000” to get his toenails done during a March 2024 episode of The Big Podcast With Shaq. He also admitted the reason he pays so much, telling his listeners, “I know my feet stink, I know they’re ugly, and I like to paint them,” before adding, “I want them to look pretty.”
