Aldi Food Recalls Issued for 34 States: Full List of Products Impacted

Aldi has issued a series of food recalls across the United States over the past three months amid fears that some of the products could make customers sick with potentially deadly food poisoning bugs.

The three recalled product lines were sold in stores across 34 states and in Washington, D.C. Two were feared to be contaminated with bacteria, while the third potentially contained metal fragments.

Newsweek reached out to Aldi via email for comment.

Why It Matters

Recalls, such as those currently being publicized on Aldi’s website this week, are issued if there are concerns that a product may be faulty or harmful in some way, such as when testing reveals that food products may be playing host to potentially deadly bacteria or when foreign material, such as metal, is introduced during the manufacturing process.

Some types of foodborne illness make people sick within a few hours after eating the dish, while others may develop after a few days, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says. In Aldi’s case, two recalls were initiated because of fears that the product could be contaminated with E.coli or listeria.

Aldi is not alone in recalling its food or other products for various reasons. Target has issued recalls recently, while Kroger and retail giant Walmart have also yanked products from their shelves.
