The 32-year-old was an All-Star in 2018, and received National League Cy Young Award votes in four of the past seven seasons. This year, Nola is 1-7 with a 6.16 ERA.
The Phillies have a strong top of the rotation led by ace Zack Wheeler, and left-handers Christopher Sanchez, Jesus Luzardo and Ranger Suarez.
Last week, 23-year-old right-hander Mick Abel was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take the place of Nola, who was placed on the 15-day injured list May 16 with a right ankle sprain.
Abel, a first-round draft pick in 2020, is 1-0 with a 0.79 ERA through his first two starts.
