The Chicago Bears put together a strong 2025 NFL offseason. After missing the playoffs in 2024, the Bears made a huge move to begin the offseason. They replaced Matt Eberflus with former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their new head coach.

After that move, Chicago knew it needed to add more talent to its roster. The front office was able to accomplish just that.

Throughout the offseason, the Bears brought in a ton of key pieces. It all started with two trades, acquiring offensive linemen Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson. After that, Chicago signed center Drew Dalman, defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo, and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, among others.

Following free agency, the Bears had a very productive 2025 NFL Draft. In the first round, they added former Michigan tight end Colston Loveland.

Loveland is expected to be a big part of the offense right off the bat. During the 2024 college football season with the Wolverines, he racked up 56 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns. He stands in at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds.

Early on in his tenure with Chicago, Loveland is liking what he’s saying from young franchise quarterback Caleb Williams.

“It has been good,” Loveland said of his time with Williams thus far. “He’s super cool, you can tell he definitely does everything the right way. He’s always grinding in the playbook, having walkthroughs, calling us in, it’s been great. I’m excited, I’m excited to get out there and get things rolling.”

During his rookie season in 2024, Williams showed flashes of huge potential. He completed 62.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. He also chipped in 489 yards on the ground.

Adding Loveland will simply add more tools for Williams to utilize. There is a good chance that the young tight end will become one of his favorite targets quickly.

So far, things are going well between the two players. The Bears have to love hearing this about Williams from their new potential cornerstone piece addition.

Chicago is looking to take a huge leap forward in 2025. If the Bears play up to their full potential, the playoffs are a very real possibility. Only time will tell, but the season will kick off on Sept. 8 at home against the Minnesota Vikings.
