A dog owner from the United Kingdom left her cockapoo alone in the living room for about 10 minutes while taking a shower. What she found him doing when she came back to check on him has gone viral on social media.
The poster said in a video shared on TikTok earlier in April under the username @cockacharlie: “When you leave your 10-week-old puppy alone for 10 [minutes] while you shower and expect total destruction, then find this!”
The clip shows the poster walking into the living room prepared for the worst, but what she sees instead leaves her stunned. Instead of wreaking havoc around the house as she had imagined, 13-week-old Charlie is just peacefully napping in his little pet bed, not making a sound.
The poster, Catherine Williamson, told Newsweek that Charlie is very playful as it is normal for his age, but he is also very calm and well behaved for such a young pup.
“[He is] very content and doesn’t cause much mayhem [to be honest]. He enjoys company as they all do and loves his food. He has such a good nature and he’s very clever,” Williamson said.
The age at which puppies are considered adult dogs can vary significantly based on breed and the pup itself. However, most canines are usually considered adults between the ages of 1 and 2 years.
Smaller dogs tend to develop way earlier than larger ones. Breeds such as Chihuahuas reach adulthood around 9 to 10 months of age, while larger ones, for example, Great Danes, can take up to 24 months, according to The Vets website.
As dogs age, you can expect to see many changes, on a physical, behavioral and mental level. They will become more talkative, sleepless and destructive, and they may start suffering from separation anxiety and showing compulsive behaviors. They may also develop new fears and phobias.
Most changes are a normal part of the aging process; however, if your dog shows any concerning symptoms or sudden behavioral changes, you should get them checked by your veterinarian.
