What ‘Sinners’ Post-Credit Scenes Really Mean—and How a Sequel Could Work

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners isn’t a traditional superhero film, but it still plays like one in the best way—especially when it comes to its post-credits scenes. The vampire thriller, starring Michael B. Jordan in a dual role, contains not one but two epilogues: one mid-credits and another at the very end. And both are worth sticking around for.

Why It Matters

Following the full credits, audiences are treated to a more reflective postscript: a clip of actor Miles Caton as young Sammie, singing and playing guitar. It’s a quiet, soulful moment that wraps up the carnage with grace—and suggests Sammie’s spirit will continue to resonate, both musically and narratively.

Coogler has praised Caton as a breakout star, and the final scene feels like both a tribute and a signal of bigger things ahead for the actor and possibly the franchise.

What To Know

The mid-credits scene picks up decades after the events of the film. The character Sammie, a young musical prodigy who barely survives a vampire massacre of 1936, is shown as an elderly man. This time, he’s played by blues legend Buddy Guy, linking Sammie’s supernatural musical gift to real-world blues folklore.

In the future-set, mid-credits moment, two vampires—Stack (Jordan) and Mary (Hailee Steinfeld)—visit Sammie to pay their respects. Stack explains that his twin brother, Smoke (also Jordan), made him promise never to harm Sammie. Smoke died before he could fulfill that promise himself, but Stack honors it.

They offer Sammie immortality, which he refuses. The moment is touching, melancholic, and quietly powerful—underscoring that Sinners is about more than bloodlust. Sammie and Stack reflect on the night of the vampire attack, agreeing it was both the most terrifying and the most freeing moment of their lives.

Could a Sinners Sequel Happen?

Nothing is officially confirmed, but the final moments of Sinners open the door to a potential sequel. With Stack and Mary now immortal and walking the Earth as vampires, a continuation of their story feels natural. And with Sammie still alive in the modern day (or at least recently visited), the mythology has room to expand.

Coogler hasn’t commented directly on sequel plans, but given his Marvel experience and world-building instincts, Sinners feels like the start of something bigger. And thanks to its layered post-credits scenes, audiences will leave the theater with plenty to chew on—well after the blood has dried.
