WWE Officially Confirms Highly-Anticipated Match for WrestleMania 41

WrestleMania 41 is already jam-packed with a ton of high-caliber matches that could easily main event any other premium live event.

However, a few matches on the card had a massive question mark next to them after WWE Superstars unfortunately suffered significant injuries.

Fortunately, it seems that one of those matches is officially back on.

After acknowledging being RKO’d by Randy Orton, Friday Night SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis went on to officially announce that Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest was back on after McIntyre suffered a surprising injury.

“What I’m here to do right now is to make a match official for WrestleMania. And I’m here to announce that Drew McIntyre will go one-on-one with Damian Priest at WrestleMania.

McIntyre’s participation came into question after a recent spot on SmackDown where Priest choke slammed The Scottish Psychopath into the windshield of a car, causing a piece of glass to go into his eye.

McIntyre has since been wearing an eyepatch and hasn’t appeared on WWE television. He recently spoke about not wanting to miss WrestleMania, specifically saying that he could fight through the injury.

“Let’s just say this,” McIntyre said. “I’ve said to the right people that there’s no way in hell I’m going to miss WrestleMania. And the people in charge, specifically somebody in charge, has fought through quads torn off his body – I’m talking about Triple H – and understands what it’s like to be in the ring and understands how big WrestleMania is.”

“If it comes to it, I have a feeling he’s just going to let it go. But I’m going to do whatever I have to do to be at WrestleMania no matter what.”

Turns out, he was absolutely correct.

The feud between McIntyre and Priest has been building since last WrestleMania.

McIntyre had just defeated Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, McIntyre was attacked by CM Punk, leaving an opening for Priest to cash in his Money in the Bank Briefcase.

Priest successfully pinned McIntyre, ending his championship reign at only five minutes.
