The NBA All-Star weekend has taken over San Francisco and the league’s brightest players all are in the Bay Area. But the events prior to the actual All-Star Game always are a fun way to show off the NBA.

We saw the Team Cavaliers take down Team Warriors to win the NBA Skills Challenge.

Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat won the NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest. It was a thrilling event that led to the final contest.

Finally, the final event would be the Slam Dunk Contest, one of the more exciting events of the All-Star weekend.

Here was the field for the contest this year:

Matas Buzelis, Chicago Bulls

Stephon Castle, San Antonio Spurs

Andre Jackson Jr., Milwaukee Bucks

Mac McClung, Osceola Magic of the G League

Winner

McClung took home the crown, defeating Castle in the final round of the event.

Recap of event:

Castle started the event off with a solid 360 dunk. The judges gave him a score of 47.2 for the slam.

Buzelis was next, missing on his first and second dunk attempts. The Bulls rookie continued to try but missed on every attempt he had. He was given a score of 40.

His second dunk of the first round was a little better. But his night was sealed by his poor first attempt.

Jackson Jr. took the third spot, missing his first attempt. The Bucks forward eventually changed course and did a simple dunk, getting a score of 43.8.

The two-time reigning champion McClung was next, and the entire NBA world was waiting to see him perform. McClung didn’t disappoint and wowed everyone, grabbing the ball over someone and a car. McClung got a score of 50.

McClung dominated in his second dunk of the first round, doing a spinning behind-the-head dunk. Once again, he was given a perfect score of 50.

McClung and Castle advanced to the final round. Castle went first and made a few rough attempts but finished with some authority.

The Spurs rookie scored 49.6 for the dunk, which would have been perfect if not for the first few missed attempts.

It was then time for McClung to make his mark, and he did not disappoint. McClung came to play and put home an incredible finish, achieving a perfect 50 score.

Castle had a nice response of his own, landing a solid 50 in his final dunk.

But in the end, McClung had one more impressive dunk in him and took home the crown. He became the first-ever player in NBA history to complete a three-peat in the Slam Dunk Contest.
