
The Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t ruled out using a six-man rotation in 2025. However, their trip to Tokyo to begin the 2025 regular season will create enough off-days throughout the month of April, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman told reporters Friday in Phoenix, that a six-man rotation won’t be necessary at the outset of the season.
Shohei Ohtani is set to resume pitching in May after taking a year off for his elbow to recover from internal brace surgery in Sept. 2023. That means the Dodgers will rotate five starters until he returns, creating an intriguing spring training competition for the team’s No. 5 starter.

The defending World Series champions will look at right-handers Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin and Bobby Miller for the fifth starter’s job, according to Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group.
“It’s gonna be interesting,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters, via Plunkett. “They are fighting (for a spot).”
