Larian Studios has finally added split-screen co-op support for Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series S in patch 8. The feature was originally missing on the cheaper Xbox console following failed efforts to optimize it for the hardware. It is arriving fourteen months after the game’s launch on the platform.
While that’s good news, it must be noted that patch 8 is not fully live yet for all players. Instead, Larian is stress-testing the patch by inviting select players. Following that, patch 8 is expected to be released to the public anywhere between a few weeks to a couple of months after the stress test.

Another major highlight of the upcoming patch is a fully-functioning Photo Mode. Players will be able to line up their characters and make them pose for a virtual camera to take photos with.
Patch 8 also introduces 12 new subclasses for players to try out in the character builder. Another big highlight of the upcoming patch is cross-play across platforms. Players will be able to join each other in multiplayer lobbies regardless of the platform they’re playing on.
Larian Studios has also released a new video showcasing how to set up a cross-play-enabled multiplayer lobby.
Following the launch of patch 8, all versions of the game will have feature parity, though PC players will benefit from increased mod support.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
