Will legendary WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus make her comeback at the Royal Rumble this year?
Some reports say it is a strong possibility, especially considering the event’s location.

Stratus is making waves in the lead-up to the 2025 Royal Rumble, with rumors swirling about her potential involvement in the Women’s Royal Rumble match.
Stratus, who hasn’t competed in a WWE ring since her Steel Cage match loss to Becky Lynch at Payback 2023, has been part of internal discussions regarding a possible surprise return at the event on February 1 in Indianapolis.
According to WrestleVotes during a recent Backstage Pass Q&A, Stratus’ participation in the Royal Rumble has been a topic of conversation:
“I know it’s been discussed. I know she will be in Indianapolis, I know WWE is bringing her in. I don’t know specifically if it is for a Rumble appearance, but I know it’s been discussed. There’s only so many women’s legends they can call on, especially those that can still do it, and she’s one of them.”

2025 marks the 25th anniversary of Stratus’ groundbreaking debut in WWE, and with a career that includes seven Women’s Championships, she is widely regarded as one of the greatest female superstars in the history of professional wrestling.
While Stratus has been clear in saying that she would only return to the ring if she could give “a hundred percent,” the buzz around her potential appearance in the Rumble is hard to ignore.
Stratus’ connection to the Royal Rumble goes back to the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble in 2018, where she made her long-awaited return to the ring.
Since then, she’s appeared in various high-profile matches, including her feud with Lynch that culminated in their aforementioned steel cage match at Payback. While she hasn’t wrestled since that event, Stratus did return to WWE in 2024, hosting Money in the Bank, showing she’s still very much part of the WWE fold.
As the Royal Rumble draws near, only 10 women have been officially announced for the match, leaving plenty of room for surprise entries.
Fans are already speculating on which legends might make an appearance, and Stratus is undoubtedly one of the biggest names on everyone’s radar.
In addition to the Royal Rumble, Stratus will also be in Indianapolis the day before the event, on January 31, for a fan meet-and-greet and signing session at the Indianapolis Convention Center.
While her official role in the Royal Rumble is still uncertain, this appearance signals her ongoing connection to the WWE Universe, leaving the door open for a potential in-ring return.
As for other surprises, Rhea Ripley recently commented on the possibility of entering the Women’s Royal Rumble herself, quipping, “I think it would be a bad decision. Maybe I’ll be in the men’s one.”
While Ripley’s tongue-in-cheek response may have raised eyebrows, it wouldn’t be the first time a woman has entered the Men’s Royal Rumble. Chyna broke ground by competing in the 1999 and 2000 Rumbles, followed by Beth Phoenix in 2010, and Kharma (aka Awesome Kong) in 2012.
Perhaps most famously, Nia Jax made history in 2019 when she became the only competitor to appear in both the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumbles in a single night.
With the 2025 Royal Rumble just days away, WWE fans are bracing for an unforgettable event, filled with surprises, legends, and unexpected returns. Will Trish Stratus be one of those surprises? Only time will tell, but the excitement surrounding her potential involvement is palpable.
