The New York Knicks could be one of the more active teams before the NBA trade deadline as they look to round out the roster for the postseason. Despite adding Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges over the offseason, New York still feels like they could make some moves.
The team has some pieces on the roster that could net them either more firepower for this year or future assets. New York wants to bring the city a championship and the front office seems like they will stop at nothing until it happens.
In this new trade proposal, the Knicks grab an additional first-round draft pick while also landing a veteran guard. The deal would be between the Knicks, Toronto Raptors, and Los Angeles Lakers.
Using the Spotrac trade machine and adhering to the new CBA rules, here is what a deal could look like:
Knicks receive: Gabe Vincent, Christian Wood, a top-10 protected 2029 first-round draft pick, and a 2028 second-round draft pick
Raptors receive: Rui Hachimura, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Cam Reddish, and a 2025 second-round draft pick
Lakers receive: Mitchell Robinson and Bruce Brown Jr.

Why Knicks do this
For the Knicks, this would be about landing the 2029 pick from Los Angeles. Robinson hasn’t played yet for this team as he recovers from offseason surgery so the current team wouldn’t be losing anything.
Landing Vincent could give them another veteran for the playoffs and a capable ball-handler. Wood could serve as a backup center in place of Robinson, giving New York a deep team heading into the postseason.
Why Raptors do this
With Brown Jr. heading into free agency this summer, the Raptors will do all they can to trade him. Toronto wants to make sure that they get something for his services and they get a ton here.
Landing Hachimura would be a great piece for Toronto as they continue their rebuild. Additionally, the team has liked Hood-Schifino for years and he could be a strong asset down the line for them.
Why Lakers do this
This is a slam dunk deal for the Lakers and it gets them to part with a coveted trade asset in the 2029 pick. Los Angeles would add a lethal defensive center in Robinson to pair alongside Anthony Davis, giving the Lakers a strong frontcourt duo.
Additionally, the Lakers land Brown Jr., who could give them position flexibility within rotations. Los Angeles has liked Brown Jr. for some time now and this deal finally lands him with the team.
