Donald Trump shared a comeback video on his Truth Social account Monday shortly before the proceedings of his inauguration were scheduled to begin.
Newsweek has contacted the Trump transition team via email for comment.
Why It Matters
Trump’s new video marks what has been described as the greatest political comeback in modern U.S. history, after he reclaimed the presidency following his election defeat in 2020 and his plunge in popularity following the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

What To Know
The video, as Trump says in a voiceover, shares “one message for you to hold in your hearts today,” the day when he will take office again as president. The message is to “never ever give up,” as nothing “worth doing” comes easy.
The clip shows footage of the 2022 FBI raid at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, which came as part of the investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents he removed from the White House. It also shows his mug shot taken after his arrest in Fulton County, Georgia, in 2023. In the case, he was indicted along with 18 co-defendants over alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the state.
In the voiceover, Trump says, “Over the course of your life, you will find that things are not always fair, you will find that things happen to you that you do not deserve.”
The clip then shows the moment he was shot at during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.
The video also shows the moment he was pulled away from the stage at the rally by security personnel and thrust his fist in the air, shouting, “Fight, fight, fight,” which Trump repeats in the voiceover.
The video then refers to Trump’s New York state civil fraud case, showing Judge Arthur Engoron. In that case, he was found liable in a scheme that unlawfully inflated the value of his net worth and assets to obtain more favorable business deals.
The clip also points to the federal election interference case brought against Trump by special counsel Jack Smith over his attempts to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election.
As the video shows clips from his 2024 election campaign, Trump says in the voiceover: “Treat the word impossible as nothing more than motivation, relish the opportunity to be the outsider, because it’s the outsiders who change the world.”
He goes on: “The more that a broken system tells you you’re wrong, the more certain you should be that you must keep pushing ahead, you must keep pushing forward.”
What People Are Saying
Donald Trump ends the video by saying: “America is beginning a new chapter, our best days are yet to come. I can promise you that.”
