There’s no shortage of amazement — and amusement — every time the Chiefs take the field, especially in January.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid joined an exclusive club when his team defeated the Houston Texans 23-14 in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday.

Reid joined George Halas, Don Shula, and Bill Belichick as the only coaches to have earned 300 career wins in the NFL.

“Big Red” acknowledged the historic feat with some self-deprecation.

“I joke to the guys that you get a couple more, you might be able to equal my weight,” Reid joked to reporters following the game.

Reid is 47 wins behind Shula to tie the all-time record and two away from his fourth career Super Bowl victory.

The Chiefs, aiming to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, have reached the AFC Championship Game for the seventh straight year.

Since becoming head coach of the Chiefs in 2013, Reid has posted a 143-53 regular season record. Prior to joining Kansas City, he spent 14 years as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, finishing with a 130-93-1 regular season record.

Reid is the NFL‘s active leader in career head coaching victories, with a significant lead over Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, who ranks second with 191 wins.

He is second only to Bill Belichick for the most playoff victories by an NFL head coach. Belichick, the iconic former New England Patriots head coach now at the University of North Carolina, holds the record with 31 career playoff wins.

With his win on Saturday, Reid has now accumulated 27 playoff victories.

Both quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce also reached accolades of their own on Saturday.

Mahomes completed 16 of 25 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown, improving to 7-0 as a starting QB in the divisional round. He also tied Hall of Famer Joe Montana with 16 career playoff victories, the second-most in NFL history, behind only future Hall of Famer Tom Brady‘s 35.

Meanwhile, Kelce continued to make history, registering seven receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown. His ninth career playoff game with over 100 receiving yards pushed him past Jerry Rice for the most 100-yard receiving games in NFL postseason history.

The Chiefs will face the winner of Sunday’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens in next Sunday’s AFC Championship Game. The matchup will take place at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST.
