Pro Wrestling Notes: Corey Graves Misses NXT, AEW Icon Retiring, AEW-TNA Merger


This past week in wrestling saw some history-making moments that are likely to change the business of professional wrestling for years to come.

Additionally, there has been plenty of drama surrounding the announce table on Monday Night Raw after WWE moved the red brand to Netflix.

Corey Graves Misses Second WWE Broadcast After Social Media Rant

Recently, WWE announcer Corey Graves took to social media to air his grievances about being moved to NXT from Raw to make room for Pat McAfee, claiming that he was told he was “not famous enough for your own job.”

Since then, Graves has been absent for an episode of NXT as well as a taping of WWE Speed for X (formerly Twitter). This has resulted in multiple wrestling fans and experts commenting on his reaction, including WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross.

Things have only gotten more complicated after it has been revealed that McAfee will be missing next week’s episode of Raw due to the CFP National Championship next Monday. However, it appears that a replacement for McAfee has already been found.

AEW Legend Retiring From In-Ring Action: Report

Christopher Daniels, veteran professional wrestler and current head of talent relations at AEW, has allegedly wrestled his final match, according to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select).

Daniels has been wrestling for over 30 years and was once considered the “King of the Indies.” His style and work ethic have influenced countless wrestlers over his career, proving you don’t have to go to WWE in order to find success in the business.

WWE and TNA Announcer Groundbreaking Multi-Year Partnership

On Jan. 16, WWE and TNA announced a groundbreaking multi-year partnership that would see wrestlers from both companies being able to appear with the other promotion.

While there have already been glimpses of this in the past with former TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry, there’s no doubt fans will see more of this, especially heading into the Royal Rumble.
