Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1,300 Clues, Hints and Answer for Thursday, January 9 Game

If you need assistance with today’s Wordle you have come to the right place, as Newsweek has provided some tips to get you over the line.

The daily word game is published by The New York Times, which bought the puzzle in early 2022 after it went viral in October 2021. It was originally created by Josh Wardle, a Welsh-born engineer who made it as a gift for his girlfriend who loved playing word puzzles.

“The game has gotten bigger than I ever imagined,” Wardle said in a statement following the sale of Wordle to The New York Times. “I’d be lying if I said this hasn’t been a little overwhelming. After all, I am just one person.”

Over the years, it has kept millions of people entertained, with many taking to social media to share their results.

Wordle‘s shareability across various social media platforms fosters a sense of belonging and common ground that can transcend cultures and borders,” linguistics expert Noël Wolf told Newsweek. “Friends and family members who live far apart, or even in different countries, can use it to stay connected.”

A large part of Wordle‘s appeal is its simplicity. Players must identify a mystery five-letter word by using a process of elimination to work out the answer.

Players are helped along with a color-tiled system, with green indicating that the letter appears in the word; yellow indicating the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot; and a gray tile meaning that letter does not appear at all.

Newsweek has provided some clues below for today’s Wordle puzzle. The answer will be revealed at the end of this article, so please scroll down with caution if you want to work it out for yourself.
