Delight at Maltipoo Who Always Knows What To Do Before Coming Inside

A dog owner from Southern California revealed her Maltipoo’s unusual habit before going inside the house, and internet users can’t cope with it.

In a viral clip shared on TikTok in December under the username @karennicoledo, the pup can be seen dipping his paws into a basin filled with clean water after playing in the yard, drying them off with a towel before walking through the door. “Your dog knows to wash his paws every time he wants to go back inside,” reads the caption.

Newsweek reached out to @karennicoledo for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case.

Dogs are among the most intelligent creatures and can be trained to do great things; in fact, lots of them work as service or therapy dogs, helping people with their struggles.

Veterinarian website Bond Vet says that dogs are about as smart as a human toddler, and they can learn on average 165 words, even though some particularly intelligent ones are able to go over 250.

However, there are different types of smart when it comes to dogs. Their intelligence can usually be divided into three main categories: instinctive, adaptive, and working/obedience.

Instinctive means street-smart, for example, when your dog is a pro at hunting; adaptive is when they are good at problem-solving and easily adaptable to new environments; and working/obedience is when your pup is great at learning from training.

Some breeds are smarter than others. The American Kennel Club puts border collies on top of their list of intelligent dogs, followed by poodles, German shepherds, golden retrievers, and Doberman pinschers. Dachshunds did not make the top 20 AKC list.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 895,000 views and more than 116,000 likes on the platform.

One user, Itznother, commented: “Showing this to my family, [because] apparently they don’t know how to wipe there shoes on the carpet before entering lol [laugh out loud].”

Ash posted: “An educated young gentleman.”
